Description
The capability focuses on initiating the integration and testing of additional monitoring points into TMC and the EDA from external systems performing data acquisition (and in some cases control) such as the Weather stations in the field, Building Monitoring, Power etc. We plan to build interfaces from these systems into TMC / Tango, for dashboards and from there for archiving into the EDA. These interfaces are primarily be for monitoring; some cases of control inputs from TMC are not ruled out, this is TBC as part of the discovery.
The purpose of developing these interfaces is that as the size of the telescope grows, it is useful to consolidate monitoring into a single integrated solution and reduce the dispersion of information across different systems. Dashboards in TMC and archival data on monitoring points to be persisted in the Engineering Data Archive is a natural choice.
Further information around this, which includes this PI25 capability and beyond is being described in the Solution Intent
The primary focus in PI25 is expected to be:
- Define the interface to the Low Weather Stations and develop an initial prototype
- Define the Low BMS to TANGO interface; possibly some early prototyping?
- Define the interface to the Network Manager (LibreNMS) and develop an early prototype
- Complete work on the Requirements to Product Mapping; identify gaps where requirements don't exist and may have to be agreed upon
- Explore the needs for monitoring points from the Power subsystem (Distribution and Backup)
TBC: Note that while the SAT.LMC interface to TMC is also being worked on, this is not currently included under this capability.
Further brainstorming of the capability scope and features is being done in Miro: https://miro.com/app/board/uXjVK6qyNUc=/?moveToWidget=3458764596930282817&cot=14
