    Description

TANGO to external products / interfaces mapping by product

It is planned to build interfaces from external products, which may have their own control and monitoring or data acquisition (such as BMS, Weather Monitoring etc. as defined below) to TANGO. As the size of the telescope grows, it is useful to do this to consolidate key aspects of monitoring into a single integrated solution and reduce the dispersion of information across different systems. Dashboards in TMC and archival data on monitoring points to be persisted in the Engineering Data Archive is a natural choice.

As part of this effort, review and mapping of the intended interface requirements to TANGO from external products that existed at the Design stage is necessary. This highlights what the interface intends to achieve, identifies any gaps, and will guide the roadmap for this work and our planning of future features. It also provides a basis for discussions with the Design Leads for these external products. This involves  understanding the JAMA requirements in Design and ICDs for these external systems as well as interaction with the Operations teams to identify what is needed from the interfaces and monitoring and archiving needs.

The products and systems to be considered for developing the mapping include:

      • Building Management System
      • Weather Monitoring Station
      • Power: Power distribution and monitoring of backup power generation
      • Network Manager (software that monitors the performance of the networking infrastructure)
      • Rack Power and Temperature Monitoring (where not otherwise monitored)
      • Power and Signal Distribution interface update for rev2 of the hardware and firmware (for the Low Telescope stations)
