      DRAFT - WIP

      For the moment this applies to the PI6 version of the MVP, supporting the MID telescope only.

      When complete this capability should allow the execution of a series of commands on a subarray, either individually or as part of a python script (which may itself be executed as part of an SBI execution) that will demonstrate the ability in the MVP to execute multiple scans, optionally reconfiguring the system between the scans.

      At the beginning, or as a preamble script, the assignResources command shall:

      During the script execution a series of interleaved configure and scan commands may be executed. There must be at least one configure command before the first scan command.

      Each configure command shall result in:

      • a configure command being sent to the Dishes with target information, causing them to slew to and track this target
      • a configure command being sent to CSP including the information necessary to configure the VCCs and FSPs - as described in (To Be Added)
      • a configure command being sent to the SDP with an instance of the "configure" json schema described in https://confluence.skatelescope.org/display/SWSI/ADR-3+Configuring+and+Scanning

      Each scan command shall include just a scan ID as an argument and shall be sent to each system. The scan ID shall be different for each scan command.

      The key outcomes looked for are:

      1. It shall be possible to execute multiple scans without ending the "SBI" execution by use of the EndSB command;
      2. It shall be possible to execute multiple scans without a configure command used between them;
      3. Every system will be responding to the configure command (not configurescan);
      4. Upon receiving the endScan command the CSP subarray obsState returns to READY;
      5. The correct SBI ID and Scan ID are verfied to have passed through the system (at least as seen in the logs)

    Description

      The MVP should be able to execute multiple scans within a single scheduling block execution, with the system optionally being reconfigured (different CSP setup, different pointing, different scan length, different SDP PBs) between the scans.

      This should conform to the design developed in ADR-3 and ADR-4

      1. Spike to resolve final details;
      2. Link to multi-scan feature in DP train;
      3. Link to first SB use feature in OMC train;
      4. Change assignResources to pass all SDP configuration (all PBs);
      5. Align use of Configure command, not ConfigureScan.
