CS Guidelines and the SKA Observing Control model define a coherent set of states and modes to control and report state of the telescope and its subsystems, it is important  that all components implement the SKA Control Model.

As the result of this work, Mid.CBF  MCS will be updated to use as a base SKA LMC Base Class Subarray (version 0.6.0), which was updated in PI6 and updated by SP-1080.  The upgrade will test usability of the CSP base classes. The new approach to implementation of the observing state machine should in long term minimize the effort to propagate changes.

Mid.CBF Subarray has been updated to implement the new version of the observing state machine. Software has been submitted in the Gitlab repository and new image deployed on the Nexus server.
The image has been integrated in the SKA MVP.
Documentation has been updated to reflect the new design and functionality. The updated design document is attached. The document will be reviewed and officially released by the configuration management in two weeks.

    Description

The CS Guidelines (SKA-TEL-SKO-0000656) and the SKA Observing Control model (SKA-TEL-SKO-0000860) define the key operational states for SKA devices and for SKA observing control. These documents are in the process of being updated as a result of the decisions made as part of ----ADR-8----.

Furthermore the current version of MVP does not fully implement SKA states and modes as defined in CS Guidelines, in particular adminMode and operational state are not implemented as per CS Guidelines.

Mid.CBF MCS will be updated to use as a base the CSP Sub-element Base Classes developed in PI6 and updated by SP-1080 in PI7.

ADR-8 introduces new states, and the  new version of the LMC Base Classes introduces new approach to implementation of the state machine,  overall the changes are significant.
