RFI simulation enhancements to include source time-dependence

      RFI simulations will be needed to provide test data for the future development of SKA SDP workflows both as a solution to take forward towards full array operations and for testing workflows that we might want to deploy for early AAs. Sufficiently accurate prediction of expected RFI sources will be required to fully test mitigation techniques.

      We have defined a standard data format to act as the interface between the RFI simulation codes and the visibility simulation pipelines:

      The TV transmitter RFI code has modified to write the data in this format.

      We held a meeting with the SKAO domain experts to review the proposed data format and agreed the next steps for modifying the aeronautical and satellite RFI codes to produce data in this format:

    Description

      Following from SP-1335 this continues the work to enhance the RFI simulation capability. Previous work included reviewing simulation code from the SKAO domain specialists, one of the aims of this ticket is to investigate the work required to efficiently simulate sources of time-dependent RFI. Adaptation of OSKAR/RASCIL is likely necessary to incorporate this functionality into the simulations and this work is a limited activity to establish the scope of the development required. If time allows this could include initial implementation.
