RFI simulations will be needed to provide test data for the future development of SKA SDP workflows both as a solution to take forward towards full array operations and for testing workflows that we might want to deploy for early AAs.

      Exploration enabler to:

      • Review existing simulations
      • Extend and onboard as SKA simulation scripts in SKA Gitlab producing a small number of initial data sets.
      • Stretch: Test these data sets using one or more existing RFI flagging codes (eg AO flagger).

We have made significant improvements to the TV transmitter RFI simulation code. The code has been cleaned up and its performance has been improved. We are able to scale it up to simulate multiple transmitters with a larger number of frequency channels. We have made full-sky dirty images to visualise the impact of the RFI. The results are summarised here:

      https://confluence.skatelescope.org/display/SE/SKA+LOW+low-level+RFI+simulations+for+multiple+emitters
      https://confluence.skatelescope.org/display/SE/Continued+exploration+of+multi-emitter+RFI+simulations

We have investigated the aeronautical and satellite RFI simulation codes written by the SKAO domain specialists, and explored what we need to interface them to the visibility simulation pipelines. The results of this investigation are recorded in SIM-744.

    Description

Intended to review and follow continue from the approach taken in previous PIs.

Outcome: RFI Data sets the following observation parameters of existing simulations so they can be combined?
