In order to perform a fair and consistent comparison of ART DD imaging and calibration algorithms for generating SKA1 data products (SP-792) it will be important to agree upon, simulate and publish (scripts and/or data) for a small number of well defined input visibility data sets. Where at all possible, this should be built upon existing SKA1 simulations work (see linked features).

    Description

Note: this ticket is intended to capture the follow-up work of SP-796 concerning SKA1-LOW.

There is an ongoing discussion concerning the validity of the simulated polarisation response for SKA1-LOW. In PI5, the SKA1-LOW beam model was implemented in the EveryBeam software. A comparison should be made between the results produced by the two independent software package (OSKAR and EveryBeam) to build confidence in these simulations and/or pinpoint errors that need to be corrected. At the end of this step, we should have two packages that predict the same instrumental response for SKA1-LOW.
