    Description

      To provide users with access to selected data products within JupyterHub notebooks, an alternative to linking repository files directly to a persistent volume is to utilize an openCADC Cavern service (based on the IVOA VOSpace standard). This approach would enable data discovery not only within JupyterHub but also in science platforms like CANFAR.

      To integrate Cavern with JupyterHub, the current service would need minor modifications:

      1. Correct External Link Handling: Ensure that the service responds appropriately when attempting to output a link that points outside the Cavern filesystem. This is likely a bug that should be addressed.
      2. REST API Support: Implement the ability to create such links via the REST API. This second optional part would allow for cleaner integration with JupyterHub.
