Station beamforming SFT

During station integration, a suite of short functional tests (SFTs) are required, to allow station integrators to check for correct integration of a station, prior to handing it over to be incorporated into the telescope array. Over the past two PIs, a suite of tests have been developed, targetting AAVS3. However there are gaps, the most important of which is the  lack of an SFT that verifies beamforming – the primary observing mode of a station. The pointing and tracking SFT feature SP-4423 will implicitly test this functionality, but we envisage a more explict test that verifies beamforming by comparing an interferometric image with a raster-scanned image.
