Tied-array beam observations form the basis of two key SKA observing modes (PST and PSS), enabling this for AA0.5 allows the commissioning and verification of the telescope (LOW) for this type of observation, derisking the control and monitoring aspects.

TMC Low is able to configure a subarray for a scan that includes forming of a single PST beam at boresight and saving beamformed data.   This work does not include ability to generate and provide to CBF polynomials for stearing the PST beam.

OSO-TMC AssignResources and Configure schema to support PST observations is added to the TEL Model
      MR link: https://gitlab.com/ska-telescope/ska-telmodel/-/merge_requests/175
The Tel Model changes are utilized on the TMC SubarrayNode to support PST and to validate the jsons
Added delay_poly and jones keys per beams for low CBF
PST observation to be based on having pst and pss keys optionals under TMC-CSP schema. (This is to support PST and non PST observations) (This is in accordance with SKA Tel Model)
TMC nodes are updated to support PST observations, and verified using OSO-TMC AssignResources and Configure schema which includes PST and PSS.

Verified the TMC-CSP interface on low TMC integration repository
Verified TMC with mocks and TMC with real CSP pair
      Test Data:
AssignResources OSO-TMC schema for PSS and PST : https://gitlab.com/ska-telescope/ska-tmc/ska-tmc-low-integration/-/blob/main/tests/data/centralnode/assign_resources_json.json?ref_type=heads
Configure OSO-TMC schema for PSS and PST: https://gitlab.com/ska-telescope/ska-tmc/ska-tmc-low-integration/-/blob/main/tests/data/subarray/configure_low.json?ref_type=heads
      MR link: https://gitlab.com/ska-telescope/ska-tmc/ska-tmc-low-integration/-/merge_requests/51
TMC low chart v0.18.0 is released to support this objective REL-1556

      Work remaining:

TMC needs to provide delay tracking for PST beam at bore-sight (ok to provide zeros offsets).(This is planned for PI24 due to scope change and insufficient  information in PI23). SDP team has asked TMC to specify the changed json and attribute as TMC is the consumer, while SDP will provide it. This work is planned for PI24, SP-4655

    Description

      What & Why?

Tied-array beam formed observations take the signals from multiple stations from within the LOW array, coherently adding the recovered voltages to provide data in a single 'look direction' (to the data recovered from a classic 'single dish' radio telescope). Such an observing mode, when coupled with an appropriate backend, allows for example Pulsar Timing (PST) observations.
