      AC 1: A document/demo on the ability of the EESSI/CVMFS Proof-of-Concept to provide access to containers

      AC 2: A document/demo on the execution of those containers in CANFAR
      (proposing for this to be a stretch goal, since it may strongly depend on the outcome of AC 1)

      Documentation for AC1 can be found here:

      AC2 has not been met because the current PoC uses Singularity/Apptainer containers which are not directly compatible with Kubernetes (i.e., CANFAR).
      In the next PI, we hope to revisit the topic of CANFAR and software distribution through CVMFS.

    Description

      Since a lot of existing software deployment happens through containers the goal of this feature is to see if the EESSI/CVMFS Proof of Concept could be used to distributed containers. If this proves to be possible with relatively low effort, the next step proposed is to then assess the possibility to deploy a container from the POC on a CANFAR instance.
