PT and JP develop(ed) an intercontinental OpenStack testbed. This feature will help us understand whether the intercontinental OpenStack works as expected for container deployment, visualization, and scientific software distribution, as fundamental functionalities of SRC and what are issues there.

AC1: We successfully deployed the compute node on the PT server from JPSRC OpenStack Cloud (Kolla Ansible).

AC2: The snapshots of Horizon can be seen in the confluence page below, showing that we can monitor and access the PT compute node from the JP control node. Moreover, a multi-region configuration of the intercontinental OpenStack testbed between JP and PT is in operation.  Essential OpenStack operations such as virtual networking and instance (VM) creation can be performed in each region from  the JP controller node's Horizon and Keystone.

AC3-5 will be addressed in PI20 or later.

    Description

The Olive team has been trying to deploy a federated OpenStack across JPSRC and PTSRC since PI17 (SP-3105/SP-3317). The team has faced facility security policy issues but they have been solved and will be solved shortly. In SRC ART, some prototyping tests are underway and planned. This intercontinental testbed can be a unique testbed to see any issues related to a long-haul networking.
