Description
Review and confirm the estimations done on maintenance needs of the system, after confirming the scalability of the TANGO Framework.
Despite the TANGO system is widely used commercially to support complex control systems, the SKA implementation has the potential to become the largest deployment of TANGO in the World. The number of TANGO facilities foreseen for the SKA Telescopes has been drafted in the SKA Control System Guidelines and adopted by the Elements.
For this reason, it is important to prototype solutions that allow to:
- Estimate the total number of TANGO devices eventually deployed within each TANGO facility belonging to the SKA Elements
- Check the scalability of the system to that order of magnitude and anticipate the issues that might arise
- Perform a system level integration test, including all the TANGO facilities foreseen for SKA1
- Continue the work on the integration of SKA base classes for TANGO devices
- Confirm the estimations done on maintenance needs of the system
- Consolidate the software infrastructure specifications, including the usage of dockers for the deployment of Tango devices.
