      The SKA1-Low engineering demo stations (EDA/AAVS) in combination with matching MWA provide a testbed for SDP RCAL-DD calibration methods waiting to be utilized: Specifically, the generation of pulsar profiles from voltage data allows to test the beam coherence (SKA1-SYS_REQ-3540) in preparation for AA0.5 processing.

    Description

      The idea is to explore capabilities for beamforming and generating pulsar profiles from EDA/AVSS voltage data. Existing tools and archival data sets should in principal allow to (re)generate pulsar profiles. If successful, a more detailed analysis of phase and TEC screen error budgets can follow in future PIs and would inform the AA0.5+ calibration strategy and workflow development.
