Exercising the OET's ‘script to Observing Task’ interface and ‘Observing Task to TMC device’ interface will establish the viability of the OET's core architecture, while allowing an initial measure of the complexity introduced by the OET vs embedding scripting functionality directly in TMC devices.

A resource allocation script is executed taking an input argument or document of some kind (e.g., simple CSV at this point), which runs the appropriate resource allocation Observing Tasks. The result of executing these Tasks is that resource allocation Tango commands are issued and the TMC prototype allocates virtual dishes to a sub-array.

    Description

TM-CDR identified data flow through the OET layers as a risk (see Figure 71 of the OSO SAD, attached to this ticket; TMCDR-636 and TMCDR-291).

This prototype will exercise the OET to perform resource allocation of the TMC prototype. Resource allocation forms just a small subset of the OSO-TMC interface, allowing the focus to be on the verification of the data flow, control/response flow, and overall architecture.

The architectural elements to be verified are the minimum required to allocate resources to a single sub-array:

      Layer                            |           Element

      ————————————————————

      Script                           |           Resource Allocation Script

Observing Task            |           Resource allocation observing Task(s)

OET Domain                |           Command Executor and Tango control

This route is suggested instead of the SBI/Observing script route because the Sched. Block Definitions are still under construction by the SARCH team, and would add an additional layer of complexity (and therefore time) to the flow de-risking exercise.
