      • Extend tests done in PI7 (--SP-1048--) to include delay of buffer provisioning using different representative Kubernetes storage classes.
      • Confirm k8s technique currently used will feasibly meet the provisioning performance requirements
      • Especially consider ways to decrease the delay, for instance allocate smaller volumes that are resized later (does that affect performance?)
      • Short confluence report extending that done in --SP-1048--.

    Description

In discussion SP-1048, the question came up whether buffer provisioning would become a problem for SDP eventually. We might be able to provide IP addresses relatively speedily by preallocating them (see SP-1178) and therefore honour our "AssignResources" NFR - yet to actually receive and store visibilities we would still need to allocate multiple PBs worth of storage for full-scale observations, which likely has its own set of challenges. This feature is meant to start investigating our options in the context of the current platform technologies.
