Improvements to AA0.5 Telescope Model data management

The Telescope Model (ska-telmodel) package provides an API to access and update versioned data sets to be used as sources of truth across multiple telescope sub-systems. Examples of the kind of data that can (or should) be accessed via this API are:

• Telescope station/dish coordinates
• Low station embedded element patterns
• Mid dish global pointing model parameters
• RFI frequency masks
• Bandpass calibration solutions

The aims of this capability are:

• To ensure the Telescope Model data API provides the functionality needed for AA0.5
• To document the data that can be accessed via the API

• Well defined and tested library for access to data
• Well defined deployment solution + description of data repositories (including repo structure)
• Description of data stored + formats
• Description of how data is versioned
• Well defined procedure for updating Telescope Model data
• Expand the definition of use cases (requirements) for Telescope Model. Starting point is with the requirements at (https://confluence.skatelescope.org/display/SWSI/Telescope+and+Resource+Model+requirements).
  • Define and implement some starting use cases for AA0.5 where a user needs to update telescope model data, targeting the Low telescope and the station related information such as actual coordinates, or cable mappings.
