      We need to be able to test the SDP MVP prior to full integration at the Mid/Low PSI. Being able to to do this in a way that provides a well understood data stream to test signal displays, output data products, and multi-node receive will greatly de-risk the eventual PSI integration.

      • Identify the types of signals that should be sent. eg Observation of bright calibrator with simple noise / error model.
      • A CBF emulator that can be configured to produce an output stream consistent with the expected output of the CBF deployed at the Mid/Low PSI.
        • The data stream produced should be suitable for testing signal displays and output data products.
      • The emulator must be able to be configured to stream to multiple receive processes running on multiple receive nodes.

    Description

      Simulator / emulator script packaged capable of simulating the output of a data stream from the PSI CBF.

      Where possible, first investigate the possibility of using existing CBF simulations/emulators for this. 

      It will also be important to keep in contact with the LOW/MID CBF teams in order to make sure this emulator generates data streams that represent the data expected at the PSI in terms of rates, dimensions, and protocols (eg use of UDP vs RDMA).
