      We need to begin work address the question of how we might achieve scalability for the case of the most challenging types of distributed I/O intensive workflows that the SDP will need to run. In doing so we also need to gain a better understanding of how these types of distributed workflows can be implemented using a high-level execution engine, and the challenges we might need to solve to make this possible.

    Description

      I/O intensive workflow ported to a high-level Execution Engine. Investigate performance, track down bottlenecks.

      Note it may be better to first work on SP-879 which is designed to establish a baseline for the performance that might be achieved using a high-level execution engine.
