These 2 x servers will provide necessary compute capacity and access to the AA0.5 diagnostics (MCCS output) and visibilities (SDP output) in order to perform data processing (calibration and imaging) and analysis of the AA0.5 array data. This is for use by the Science Operations and Commissioning.

    Description

After AAVS3 is decommissioned, the two AAVS3 servers will be relocated to the SPC and setup for use by the Sci Ops and Commissioning teams for AA05/1.

      AAVS3 server specs: Dell PowerEdge R7525, 2 x AMD Epyc 7443 CPU (2.85GHz, 24cores), 192 GB RAM, 1 x 6.4 TB NVMe, 64 TB SAS HDD, 1 x Nvidida A30 (24GB), 1 x Broadcom Dual Port 10GbE SFP+, 1 x Mellanox ConnectX-6 Dual Port 100GbE QSFP56.

Use case is to provide Linux Ubuntu instances, with authentication/authorisation via SKAO Enterprise AAA (no shared account), with OS and data processing packages (casa, miriad, wsclean, etc.). Easier access to the Ceph storage should be provided, to read (or copy) MCCS diagnostics data and visibilities, as well as write processed data, preferable via the Data Lifecycle Management (DLM) system. User will develop/run data processing and analysis scripts interactively. No need for orchestration (k8s) service. At this stage, only SKAO staff and associates will require access to these instances.

This is expected to be done by the Joey Team with help from the Bang team.
