Having an understanding of how Workload Management Systems used in particle physics gives us insight in how those existing systems could be useful to us. Is a WMS useful or needed for SRC Sites?

For this discussion to happen, it needs to be defined how typically jobs are going to be executed (percentage wise; X% interactive, Y% automated jobs).

AC 1 A motivated definition of what type of jobs (interactive, automatid, ...) and what relative percentage (very roughly!) of those to eachother will be delivered.

AC 2 A document defining how the functionalities offered by the three analysed WMSs could fit the use case of SRCNet.

AC 3 The feedback on the individual WMSs is documented, either as part of the summary document or as a separate set of comments/question.

    Description

In previous PIs, a document was produced listing Workload Management Systems (WMSs) and their properties. Based on the compute API work, a discussion happened on the API signature of those. The discussion has yet to conclude, but discussion with people with significant experience with those WMSs will happen to define how such WMSs could be used in an SRCNet context.

The work related to the work of the HPC COP that is defining processing use cases for the SRCNet network.
