This work will verify that the IVOA ExecutionBroker data model is sufficiently detailed enough to meet the needs of the SKA project.

The work will evaluate the IVOA ExecutionBroker data model, checking that it is capable of describing the software, execution environment, and the compute and data resources required to execute the workflows and benchmarking tests that have been selected to evaluate SRCNet-0.1.

AC1: Generate a description of software, execution environment, and compute and data resources, required for each executable. <- that is the data model, we want an AC to test the data model

AC2: Each executable is described in sufficient detail to be able to execute it without requiring any additional information. <- ok but how?

AC3: Where there are missing or incompatible elements in the data model, update the IVOA ExecutionBroker specification to resolve the issue.

AC4: The result will be a catalog of metadata descriptions for all of the workflows and benchmarks that have been selected to evaluate SRCNet-0.1.

    Description

The IVOA ExecutionBroker datamodel has evolved over time as the ExecutionBroker has grown from an initial idea in the ESCAPE project into a draft of an IVOA specification. However, to date, the datamodel itself has not been critically verified against a set of real world examples.

This work will verify that the IVOA ExecutionBroker datamodel is sufficiently detailed enough to meet the needs of the SKA project. These metadata descriptions can be used to automate the execution of the workflow and benchmark tests using ExecutionBroker services in future iterations. The resulting metadata descriptions will form a reference library to guide users and software developers on how to create new descriptions for analysis software that is added to SRCNet in future iteratons. Contributing our changes back to the IVOA will mean that other astronomy projects will use the same datamodel to describe their analysis software, making them available to SKAO users to run on SRCNet.
