      • The option to apply, or ignore a pointing correction to the dishes which is outstanding functionality within the five-point calibration scan

      Updated on 13/ Aug

      • TMC provides an API to apply Global pointing model to the dishes individually. This functionality is tested against simulated dishes as the equivalant API on the Dish is not yet implemented.

TMC has implemented an API on Dish Leaf Node that facilitates setting the global pointing model on the Dish. Currently TMC is supporting the JSON format that is mentioned in comment section on this page: https://confluence.skatelescope.org/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=282495010. The json format is being refined to follow right naming conventions and TMC will support it in PI 24.

The TMC functionality is tested against Dish simulator. Integration with real Dish Manager is pushed to PI 24 as SDR-1248 cannot be resolved in PI 23.

    Description

      What & Why?
The pointing accuracy of Dish type radio antennas changes as a function of the position in the sky at which they are pointing. To compensate for this, regular Global Pointing Model observations will be conducted during which multiple targets across the sky are observed using the 5-point reference pointing scan type. The corrections for each target at each position in the sky inform the Global Pointing Model of the MID telescope.

      Updates on 13 Aug

Based on the discussions on 7th Aug, the SDR-1248 cannot be resolved in PI 23. Thus, the TMC side functionality is tested against simulated dish.
