OSO: Proposal Handling Tool (MVP)

By implementing an MVP of the proposal preparation tool with essential but basic end-to-end functionality, we will enable users propose a continuum observation end-to-end and will provide a subset of the future capabilities of the proposal preparation process for the SKAO.

This MVP will enable science operations assess and validate the functionality, navigations, user experience of the tool. 

•      User Guide and Navigation:
  • The tool should guide users through the proposal creation process with basic prompts for each section.
  • User documentation with more details should be made available to users.
• Enhanced / Added Functionality:
  • Targets can be edited.
  • Observations can be edited.
  • Email invite to a Co-Investigator to participate in the proposal.
  • Continuum observation sets can be added to the proposal for MID or LOW
    • an arbitrarily long list of targets in.
    • Any technically possible spectral tuning.
  • Retract and resubmit PDFs to the Science Case and Tech Justification sections of the proposal.
• Integration with ODA:
  • PHT can write the proposal specific data to the ODA which can be inspected (via pgAdmin).
• Validation:
  • PHT can validate all user inputs against the capabilities of the telescope as defined in the OSD on the observation page
• Testing:

• • Components and user journey tests provided
  • A side by side comparison of what a Proposal outputs in to the proposal data model, along side an equivalent SBD for the same observing setup. To look for gaps and being the steps toward a conversion layer.
