This work will start to close the loop on bringing the user (and some interactive compute environment) to their data at a given SRC site. Being able to start sessions remotely opens up possibilities for visualising data in-place, or giving the user more control over the software they wish to use for analysis.

AC1: JupyterHub/CANFAR session can be remotely started from a test/development instance of the science platform backend (using API calls to the backend is fine - UI dev can follow later)

    Description

It has been demonstrated that a user can discover their data from the science platform UI, and determine the best site to undertake their processing. Separately, we’ve shown proofs-of-concept for reading the data in-place at sites running e.g. notebook services. The logical next step is for the Science Platform UI to be able to start up an (appropriate) interactive session for the user, and provide access (URL or nested web application).
