Team_CORAL operations-monitoring-and-network team_coral tests-compilation
Description
In the SRCs context, there have been some initiatives around network tests with the aim of characterizing the performance of the network links. In particular, the AENEAS project reported about several tests ( memory-to-memory and disk-to-disk tests, see https://drive.google.com/file/d/1nBmKs2P_ALDJCnlp6GlwuiIIpF6jJD5M/view ). In the Coral team, with the collaboration from R. Hugh-Jones, some tests were executed to identify potential bottlenecks. Coral and Purple collaborated to deploy a Perfsonar testbed to monitor network performance and identify bottlenecks. The UKSRC initiative has also been exploring this topic.
The work in this feature is focused on developing re-usable resources for executing memory-to-memory and disk-to-disk tests. Those resources will be shared with the SRCNet through the SRC repository with enough documentation, so any SRC node can re-use the tests scripts as the perfsonar testbed, so they can get information from their network links and identify potential bottlenecks.
