      SKA Tango Base Classes are used as a base for development of the Telescope Control system, SKABaseDevice provides TANGO API while the class ComponentManager implement functionality specific for each device. Formal specification for this interface is required to help developers, encourage common approach, and train developers when they join the team.

    Description

      In ska-tango-base the so called long running commands are a feature which spans both the SKABaseDevice and the ComponentManager.  As such there is some interface/contract between the SKABaseDevice and the ComponentManager.  Currently this interface is largely implicit.

      This feature is to formalize this interface and codify it in the ska-tango-base API and documentation.
