The SRC Workload Gitlab repository collects tasks and workflows that implement a variety of astronomical processing steps. These help us test the functionality of SRCs, and interplay between data and pipelines.

Adding another common source-finding algorithm will help us test and compare it to others.

AC1: Containerise the s-extractor software, and run it on the same LOFAR image used in the PYBDSF task.

AC2: Add this task to the SRC Workloads Gitlab repository, following the guideline and format requirements details in the README in that repository.

AC3 (optional): Provide a basic comparison between the outcomes of s-extractor and PYBDSF: https://arxiv.org/abs/1202.4500. Compare scientifically, but mainly benchmarking compute load.

    Description

The s-extractor algorithm is used for source-finding. We aim to add this to the SRC Workloads Gitlab repo to compliment the PYBDSF source-finding algorithm. It can then be used for testing and comparisons.
