As noted in the SaDT CDR the paper based design approach has reached its limits. We need a model based system to ensure coherence and modifiability.

This tool will be used initially for System CDR and will need to be re-evaluated to determine if the tool is suitable for construction and operations. The tool selection mainly focussed on the requirements for System CDR, but some consideration was made towards the entire lifecycle of the project.

Description

The network design tool has been approved, procured, and is currently in use. However, there are a number of configuration tasks that still need to be completed. These tasks are reliant on SKA IT and was not completed in the previous PI.

This feature is a clone of ~~SP-119~~ as there are three outstanding actions that require SKA IT assistance.

NetTerrain still needs to be configured to use the SKA Active Directory server on Azure. The vendor can set this up, but requires us to provide the details of our AD Server. A call has been logged with SKA IT for this information (ticket #3729).
Graphical Networks can arrange for the data backups to be stored in an SKA Azure backup area if we have one or manage them for us. I have emailed SKA IT to ask if we have a cloud backup area or whether to ask the vendor to manage this. I'm not sure what has been configured for other cloud-based tools.(ticket 3730).
In order to import\export from\to Visio, the cloud server needs to have Visio installed. We can either pay Graphical Networks for this license or provide them with a license key. I have logged a call with SKA IT to ask if we have a spare license or whether they can get the license cheaper than us asking Graphical Networks to provide us with one. (ticket #3732).
