      SRCs will provide pre-built scripts for standard workflows that users expect to run. We aim to implement some of these, and test their effectiveness with regards to hardware limitations and data storage schemes. 

      This particular workflow adds together images over the same point in space to achieve a lower noise. It assumes you have multiple independent images of the same location.

      There are various ways to achieve this, and since we have created a mosaicking workflow using SWARP, the same workflow can be easily adapted to combine images at the same location.

      AC1: Obtain a relevant dataset, or simulate a dataset of images of the same area of sky.

    Description

      Input data: Many images covering the same location

      Output data: A single image with lower noise

      Software involved: The SWARP workflow can be reused

      Workflow steps: Get data in a single location, run SWARP.

      State of existing workflows: The SWARP workflow is complete, so would just need to look for a suitable dataset to implement this. Difficult to find relevant archival data? Could generate simulated data e..g using SDC1 scripts? Would be a moderate amount of work to generate data. A simple case with existing data would be a small amount of work. Could be difficult to find data sets that push this workflow to its limit.

      Architecture and hardware: Multithreaded CPU. Flexible on RAM. Data in a single location.
