SDP displays have been demonstrated to telescope operators and other users and we have obtained their feedback.
Dashboard were demonstrated to a various stakeholders:
      AIV Engineers
Mid: Adriaan Peens-Hough, Ben Mort, Donald Gammon, Dave Horn, Monde Manzini, Peter Hekman, Pieter Jordaan, Vhulahani Manukha, Xandri Farr
Low: Allison Weidenbaum, Cameron Mcdonald, Yusuke Kono, Lucio Tirone, Vani Naram, Yachun Chiu
      Operations
      Shari Breen, Sharmila Goedhart
      System Science
      Justin Jonas, Maciej Serylak

https://confluence.skatelescope.org/display/SE/User+Feedback. The feedback has also been added onto the Data Product Dashboards feedback page for reference and planning: https://confluence.skatelescope.org/display/SE/User+feedback+on+Data+Product+Dashboard

We have a plan for improving the displays based on the feedback, recorded as team stories and features.
SP-3768, SP-3478, small stories are maintained in team backlog. Stories which are not scheduled for PI20 have been kept as suggestions on the User Feedback confluence page.
Time-boxed activity to implement some of the smaller improvements, if capacity allows.

Improvements made to the Data Product Dashboard during PI19 include:
NAL-602 Upgraded the Node base image to resolve some of the security vulnerabilities.
NAL-626 Updated the table of data products React component to use SKAO styled colours for selection and hover.
NAL-629 Updated the metadata panel to make use of a SKAO React tree view component.

There are tickets created for this, but they are not done.
https://jira.skatelescope.org/browse/NAL-618 Update Dashbord to use new device
      https://jira.skatelescope.org/browse/NAL-619 Deploy updated Dashboard
https://jira.skatelescope.org/browse/NAL-699 Add new attributes to Taranta Dashboard

Displaying the visibility receive metrics on a Taranta dashboard has not happened due to various problems. There was a delay in integrating the queue connector. By the time this was completed the jupyter notebook could not switch the subarray on and therefore a scan could not be successfully run. Nor could the step which accesses the taranta dashboard be reached. The SKAMPI deployment was also very slow towards the end of the PI which hampered things.

Signal Display MSGPACK implementation was implemented in NAL-556. This updated protocol decreases the serialization and de-serialization time required when dealing with messages on the Kafka queue.

Furthermore https://jira.skatelescope.org/browse/SP-3388 was completed and the generation time of waterfall (spectrograms) was sharply reduced.

      Performance benchmark:
After all the changes for about 14000 channels, and 1500 data points: the previous system took around 57 seconds for the full image, it is now about 1 second. The thumbnails are almost always under 0.1 seconds, and sometimes down to 0.02 seconds (but rarely), with the average being around 0.06 seconds.

    Description

Demonstrate the SDP displays to operators and other users of the telescopes at early array assemblies, such as commissioning scientists, to obtain their feedback on the displays. This should include the SDP Taranta dashboard, the signal displays and the data product dashboard. Ideally it would be a hands-on demonstration so that the users have an opportunity to interact with the displays for themselves.

Collect the users' feedback and turn it into a plan for improving the displays. This should be recorded as team stories (for small things, especially ones that can be implemented immediately) and features (for larger things that should be implemented in later PIs). If the team capacity allows, implement some of the smaller improvements this PI.

      Who?

      • Telescope operators.
      • Commissioning scientists.
      • AIV engineers.

Specifically this should include (Science Operations) Shari Breen, Riley Keel, Charlotte Sobey, Jimi Green (System scientists) Robert Laing, Justin Jonas, Shinichiro Asayama, Maciej Serylak
