Description
The current firmware uses a linear approximation to this polynomial, and is fixed for the entire test case, i.e. there are no updates.
The proposed changes are:
- Calculate the polynomial fit over the interval 0 to 10 seconds (instead of -5 to 5)
- Note that in practice we have no control over this, since polynomial will be provided at a rate determined by higher layers in the control software.
- Use a least squares approximation to the polynomial to calculate the linear approximation used in the firmware
- Update the linear approximation used in the firmware for every integration interval
The work required to do this is:
- Update the matlab algorithm to find the least squares linear approximation instead of the tangent.
- Implement the matlab code in the control software, to provide regular (849ms) updates to the register settings that define the delays used in the firmware.
- debug firmware - control register updates haven't been properly tested.
