The responsibility for low-level station functionality has been passed to the new SpsStation Tango device in the new ska-low-mccs-spshw repository. The associated testing harness has been updated and now uses ska-tango-testing.

The new device has new functionality, initialising the station, but this was not mature enough to perform a demo by the end of the PI. Work to extend this and add beam steering will be carried over to a PI18 feature.

Description

The Spshw Station device (exact name TBD) is being created to separate low-level functionality from the main Station device. This means that it takes responsibility for:

Station initialization
Other low-level commands to address the hardware
Feeding delay value updates to the hardware
The stories under this feature will address each of these and finally conduct a "lab" test of the pointing.

Instigation of tile initialization from the new device will make redundant the tile initialization part of the "thin slice" script. Breaking off the lower-level station functionality into the new device will provide an appropriate component for the "thickened slice" script to drive.

This feature addresses objective SPO-2168 KR1.
