      Spectral and temporal performance PFB inversion across a LFAA coarse channel (Low) or Mid.CBF frequency slice (Mid) is measured and understood. Outcomes will inform any additional phase-alignment requirements for the CBF/PSR ICD needed to meet L2/L3 requirements for pulsar timing spectral and temporal precision.

      • Simulation of beam-formation from multiple elements with integer sample delays
      • PFB inversion that spans stage-1 frequency

      Documentation on PFB inversion performance updated with outcomes of analysis.

      • The PST Signal Model has been extended to support 2-stages of oversampled polyphase filterbank inversion. This now more completely matches the signal chain for both the Low (LFAA/Low.CBF) Telescope and Mid (Frequency Slice Processors / PST Filterbank) Telescope.
      • Inversion across coarse channels from the 1st stage of Polyphase filterbank has been implemented in the PST Signal processing prototype software (DSPSR). This work is required to support the full range of time and frequency resolutions.

    Description

      The CBF and PST signal models in Matlab focus on a single stage Polyphase Filterbank (PFB) whereas both Low and Mid telescopes will use a dual stage PFB in their PST signal chain. The PST Matlab model should be extended to support 2 stages of analysis PFBS and the corresponding reconstruction in the PST. Validation of the complete approach to channelisation for Low (LFAA and Low.CBF) and Mid (Frequency Slice Processor and PST Filterbank) are necessary to demonstrate the PFB inversion technique is resilient to 2 stages of analysis PFBs.
