The initial station beamformer had very limited flexibility. As understanding of the desired system behaviour has matured, revisions will be necessary to support reconfiguring the beamformer on the fly to support multiple station beams and independent sub-arrays.
This feature will investigate and document an appropriate architecture for the new implementation.

Updates to the Station Beamformer identified in https://confluence.skatelescope.org/display/SE/MCCS-727+-+New+beamformer+API, executed then reviewed in https://confluence.skatelescope.org/display/SE/SP-2400%3A+Concept+design+of+revised+Station+beamformer required new test development. A demonstration of the new test passing was given, alongside a description of the changes to the Station Beamformer, in OMC system demo 17.4. This enabled debug / resolution of an issue with DDR memory access.
Further work to continue adding flexibility to the Station Beamformer, as identified, is thus enabled.

Concept design of revised Station beamformer: SP1569.3 SP1569.4 SP1569.5 SP1570.6 SP1570.7
All these features, except SP1569.5, depend on a refactoring of the current station beamformer output stage to support more flexible configuration changes.

A conceptual design phase is required to define a suitable firmware architecture. We expect to define the architecture in PI12 and subsequently lay out a roadmap for the features involved.
