    Description

      Feature Set Summary

Prototype PSS pipeline integrated into SKAMPI with the ability to interface with external SKA elements, i.e. CSP.LMC, SDP and PSS CBF emulators, for the purpose of testing those interfaces.

      Detailed Description

By the end of PI16, the goal of this Pulsar Search Sub-Element (PSS) Epic is to create and integrate with the SKA repos a PSS pipeline prototype that can interface with the:

      • Local Monitoring and Control (LMC)
      • PSS CBF emulator modules
      • Science Data Processor (SDP)

      Epic Hypothesis Statement (https://www.scaledagileframework.com/epic/)

For  Assembly Integration and Verification engineers, and Commissioning and Science Verification scientists
who  want to test and verify SKA interfaces with the PSS pipeline
the  integrated PSS pipeline in SKAMPI
is a  PSS pipeline with minimal functionality
that  can be controlled and configured via the CSP.LMC, is able to ingest simple test data from the PSS CBF emulators and export them to SDP.
Unlike  other pulsar search time-domain pipelines
our solution  is integrated into SKAMPI and can interface with external SKA software elements.

Outcome hypothesis Provides improved confidence in the mitigation of key functional and non-functional risks prior and during construction, hence improving the likelihood of delivering the production solution to meet SKA technical and quality requirements within construction time and cost estimates.
Leading Indicators -        High success rate of automated, end-to-end TDD and BDD tests of PSS interfaces
      -        High number of uncorrupted/complete data/metadata transfers between PSS and other sub-elements (CBF emulator, LMC and SDP)
NFRs Reliability, Maintainability, Observability, Diagnosability, Modifiability, and Robustness
