      In the SKA distributed services/devices architecture, tracing will enable the monitoring of system wide performance and aid in identifying/debugging any performance bottlenecks. Logs, metrics, and traces are three important enablers of the observability quality attribute of a distributed system. Tagging log messages within transactions with a transaction ID enhances tracing.

    Description

      A stretch goal for SP-1122 was

      • log messages within (or called from) the transaction block should be tagged with the transaction ID as well (thread-local variable?)

      This enabler is to add tagging of logs, that fall within a transaction block, with the transaction ID.

      Note that logging of transaction IDs for the start and the end of transactions were implemented as part of SP-1122.
