      Given the long hardware delays due to lockdown, this is unlikely to evaluate any physical hardware, but a solid look through vendor offerings and obtaining pricing and GA timelines for them would be very useful.

      A documented analysis showing a price performance tradeoff, along with other more subjective criteria will be produced.

    Description

      MeerKAT is currently using a 48-drive storage chassis for the main archive. This was custom built for the project, with a focus on weight saving (aluminium construction) and performance (full SATA channel to each drive rather than using port multipliers).

      We need to refresh the archive for MeerKAT+ and have already evaluated options for retaining this chassis and refreshing the electronics. 

      This feature will look at complete COTS replacements, since there have been several new entrants into this space since we built our own solution.
