      Who? Developers, hardware vendors

      What? Establish performance metrics of (simple) key processing functions

      Why? In order to eventually converge on an overall efficient integrated hardware/software system, we should ensure that we continuously monitor performance statistics. After all, while we clearly cannot currently design anything close to the "perfect" benchmark in terms of either software or hardware, we need a starting to point to increment from.

      ReFrame is a framework that enables testing of whole software packages on different platforms. Stand-alone tests of two processing functions were produced, namely DFT and phase rotation. These tests can be run independently on ReFrame framework. Tests can be found in ska-sdp-benchmark-tests (https://gitlab.com/ska-telescope/sdp/ska-sdp-benchmark-tests/-/tree/main/apps/level0/gpu/hippo_func_lib/src). Along with stand-alone tests, two ReFrame scripts were written that parse output of the stand-alone tests and produce relevant figures. ReFrame tests can be found here (https://gitlab.com/ska-telescope/sdp/ska-sdp-benchmark-tests/-/tree/main/apps/level0/gpu/hippo_func_lib).
