TDC/Mid.CBF 4K PST 8/7 over-sampled channelizer

      The TALON Demonstration Correlator architecture will be deployed for SKA AA0.5 and AA1.  Capability at AA1 includes correlation and a single pulsar timing beam on bore sight.

      The PST 4K channelizer is the only remaining signal processing IP block required to support TDC development through AA1.  Thushara has other project commitments in the near future and utilizing his time now while he has momentum developing TDC signal processing firmware will be more efficient than trying to implement this IP block closer to the time it is needed for AA1.

      PST Channelizer reference design is understood and updated as required.

      Test bench is developed and all test cases pass.

      Design passes synthesis and meets timing.

      Firmware, test bench and documentation is checked into NRC gitlab.

      The 4k PST channelizer firmware was developed, passes simulation tests and the timing margin in synthesis is acceptable as currently implemented. An enhancement to ease timing for the system as a whole will be implemented in AT5-563 during the IP sprint 9.6.

      The simulation consists of three tests, similar to the VCC channelizer and the 16k imaging channelizer: Regular Operation, PPS resync, and updating the channel gains. The test log is pasted below.

    Description

      The intent of the TALON Demonstration Correlator (TDC) is to have a correlator on the sky using the TALON hardware and Frequency Slice Architecture (FSA) signal processing algorithms. TDC will be used for early integration with  DISH, TMC and SDP.  Mid.CBF DDD and Test Specification define the hi-level BITE architecture;  BITE firmware and software developed for TDC will be fully re-used for Mid.CBF.

      The 4k channelizer is a key IP block for SKA AA1 to provide a Pulsar Timing beam at boresight.  This work is being done to maximize the use of Thushara's time.
